Do you love customized details in your home?
I don’t know about you but every time I walk into a home and see a customized feature, it always stops me in my tracks. There’s something about having custom features that make your home feel cozy and more comfortable. It’s that sense of pride that goes with knowing that simple DIY projects you’ve created yourself can enhance your home’s value and overall aesthetics. One of those DIY projects is making a pallet wall to accent a room. The great part about this is that it can be done in one weekend.
Follow these 4 steps to create your pallet wall in one weekend:
Step 1. Sand the boards you want to use with a 220-grit sandpaper. This is going to remove any rough spots to avoid splinters.
Step 2. Paint the wall the color of the wood because the boards are not going to perfectly line up. Some of the pallets may show a gap in between or be a little bit uneven which adds to its charm. So paint the wall the color of the pallets to hide those small gaps and give you a look that won’t distract from it. Usually, one coat is sufficient. Let it dry thoroughly.
Step 3. Liquid nail is all you’re going to need to install the wood. Begin at the ceiling and then work your way down. If you change the pattern up and apply the boards to the wall randomly, it’s going to give it a more natural look.
Step 4. Understand that the pallet boards are going to be different widths. You will have to arrange the boards ahead of time to see how it fits when you get to the bottom. You might have to cut it down to fit. Decide whether or not you want to keep the baseboard on the wall.
That’s it! That’s all there is to it. Now you have a nice customized pallet wall in just one weekend.
